Begins his fourth season on the coaching staff after being named to his position on 10/23/14...Is in his second stint in the Brewers organization, having previously served as minor league hitting coordinator (2010-11) and as manager at Double-A Huntsville (2012-13)...Spent the 2014 season as assistant hitting coach with Detroit, his first career coaching position at the Major League level.....the Tigers led the Major Leagues in batting average (.277) and ranked second in runs (757), OBP (.331), slugging (.426) and OPS (.757)...began his coaching career in 2000 as minor league hitting coordinator with Seattle...Spent four years in the Nationals organization (2006-09), serving as minor league roving hitting instructor (2006), manager at Class-A Vermont (2007) and Class-A Hagerstown (2008), and hitting coach at Triple-A Syracuse (2009)...Owns a career record of 223-268 (.454) as a minor-league manager.

Was selected by Seattle in the first round of the 1980 draft...Played 14 Major League seasons with Seattle (1983-85, '88-90), Detroit (1986-87, '90), Pittsburgh (1987-88), San Francisco (1991), Cincinnati (1992), Toronto (1993-94), St. Louis (1995) and Colorado (1997).....was an infielder/outfielder...Batted .245 with 75 HR and 368 RBI in 957 career games...Was a member of the 1993 world champion Toronto Blue Jays...Is one of only 15 players ever, including Babe Ruth, to hit three homers in a game in both the National League (1987 Pirates) and American League (1994 Blue Jays)

Is married.....wife's name is Shari.....the couple has a daughter named DeAnna and two sons, Darnell Jr. and Jared...Graduated from Eisenhower (CA) High School...Served as a baseball analyst for ESPN from 2001-06.
