PHOENIX -- D-backs manager Kirk Gibson announced on Thursday night that right-hander Micah Owings will start Saturday against the Twins.

Owings has a 3-1 record and a 4.85 ERA in seven starts at Triple-A Reno. He has recorded 27 strikeouts and nine walks in 39 innings.

In two seasons with Arizona, Owings started 45 games and went 14-17 with a 5.12 ERA. He was traded to the Reds in September 2008 to complete a deal for first baseman Adam Dunn and re-signed with the D-backs in January.

Owings can swing the lumber as well -- he owns a career .293 batting average with nine home runs in 184 at-bats.
