The D-backs close out the home portion of the regular season with a Sunday afternoon contest against the Dodgers.
One of manager Bob Melvin's goals this year was to play better at home, and the Diamondbacks have done that, compiling the third-best home record in franchise history (50-30).
"We've played very well at home this year," Melvin said. "The past couple of years, we haven't been as good. It's nice to play well in front of your home fans."
The D-backs will send Edgar Gonzalez to the mound. The right-hander is 4-2 with a 3.90 ERA in 10 starts this year, including 1-0 with a 1.64 mark in his past two.
ARI: RHP Edgar Gonzalez (8-2, 4.61 ERA)
Gonzalez's last outing was against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, and he allowed just one run on six hits over five innings. In his career against the Dodgers, he is 1-3 with an 8.53 ERA in six games (five starts).
LAD: RHP Chad Billingsley (11-5, 3.15 ERA)
Billingsley did not pitch against the D-backs in their series last weekend in Los Angeles. In four games, two starts, against Arizona this year, he is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA.
