Hudson earns third straight Gold Glove

PHOENIX -- The D-backs' Orlando Hudson was named the National League Gold Glove second baseman on Tuesday by Rawlings for the second consecutive season.

Hudson has won the award in each of the two years he has been with the D-backs since being acquired from the Blue Jays after the 2005 campaign in a trade that sent Troy Glaus to Toronto.

"O-Dog" made 10 errors in 137 games this season and posted a .985 fielding percentage, showing great range and the ability to make the spectacular play. He missed the final month of the season and the team's playoff run due to surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb suffered on a slide into third on Sept. 5.

It was the third consecutive Gold Glove for Hudson, who won the American League award in 2005. His award in the Senior Circuit last season made him just the sixth infielder in Major League history to win a Gold Glove in both the American and National Leagues, joining Bret Boone, J.T. Snow, Robin Ventura, Omar Vizquel, and Matt Williams.

Hudson is one of two players in the team's history to win a Gold Glove. Outfielder Steve Finley garnered the honor in 1999 and 2000.

The 29-year-old hit .294 with 10 homers and 63 RBIs for the National League West champions this past season.
