Jackson remains patient through slump

LOS ANGELES -- If you had to pick an offensive Most Valuable Player for the D-backs this year, Conor Jackson would probably win easily.

The left fielder has hit a rough patch, though, over the last month.

Jackson was hitting .316 as recently as Aug. 8, but since then has batted just .204 as his season average dropped to .294.

"It's not easy to watch your numbers keep coming down," he said. "My biggest thing is I can't be worried about the result right now. I've got to get back to focusing on feeling good in the box and good things will happen. Sometimes, it takes one at-bat to get out of it."

That may have come Wednesday, when he singled in the tying run in the ninth inning and came around to score the winning tally as the D-backs rallied for an emotional victory over the Cardinals.
