PHOENIX -- The D-backs placed right-handed relief pitcher Josh Collmenter on the 15-day disabled list Friday with ulcers and recalled right-handed reliever Brad Bergesen from Triple-A Reno. Coming home from a 10-day road trip on Thursday, D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said Collmenter became ill as soon as he got off the plane. "It cropped up last night," Gibson said. "It's kind of a personal thing. It's legitimate. It happened off the plane. He went home and got very, very sick."
Collmenter was 3-3 with a 4.24 ERA in 22 games (nine starts) with the D-backs in 2012. In his last 18 games, he went 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA. Bergesen, claimed from the Orioles on July 20 off waivers, tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings in his only start with Reno on Aug. 5 at Iowa. He also made three relief appearances with the D-backs this season and allowed one run in five innings before being optioned on Aug. 1.
