Umpire Dale Scott injured by foul tip in Phoenix
PHOENIX -- After taking a line drive off the face mask, umpiring crew chief Dale Scott left Friday's game between the D-backs and the Nationals with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The ball that struck Scott came off the bat of Miguel Montero on a pitch from Stephen Strasburg. The veteran umpire slowly went to the ground for a few minutes while a D-backs trainer examined him.

Scott eventually walked off the field and third-base umpire CB Bucknor took over behind home plate after a nine-minute delay.

Strasburg was working on a no-hitter at the time of Scott's injury, but walked Montero when play resumed and gave up an RBI single to Chris Johnson, knotting the score at 1 before Gerardo Parra grounded out to end the inning.
