D-backs set to interview Bundy

LAS VEGAS -- The D-backs have asked for, and were granted, permission to speak with Dodgers Triple-A manager Lorenzo Bundy about the team's vacant first-base coaching position.

Bundy is no stranger to the Arizona organization. The 49-year-old coached in in the D-backs' Minor League system from 2003 through 2006. During the 2004 season he was named bench coach in early July when then-manager Bob Brenly was dismissed and bench coach Robin Yount resigned.

More

Bundy left the D-backs' organization after the 2006 season when he was offered a chance to manage the Dodgers' Triple-A team in the Pacific Coast League.

In addition to his Minor League managing career, Bundy has managed in the Mexican Winter League where he has twice been named Manager of the Year.

The D-backs are seeking a replacement for Lee Tinsley, who served as the club's first-base coach for three seasons before departing last month to take a similar job with the Mariners.

It is not known who else, if anyone, the club will interview.
