PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) announced they have reinstated outfielder Cody Ross (@IamCodyRoss) from the 15-day disabled list and placed outfielder Jason Kubel on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.
Ross, 32, has not played in a game this year due to a strained left calf suffered in Spring Training. In 7 rehab games with Triple-A Reno and Single-A Visalia, Ross went 4-for-19 (.211) with a double and 4 RBI.
Ross is a career .262 hitter (763-for-2,912) with 122 home runs and 452 RBI in 9 Major League seasons with Detroit (2003), Los Angeles-NL (2005-06), Cincinnati (2006), Florida (2006-10), San Francisco (2010-11) and Boston (2012). He batted .267 (127-for-476) with 34 doubles, 22 home runs and 81 RBI with the Red Sox last season.
The Scottsdale, Ariz. Resident signed a 3-year contract with the D-backs on Dec. 28.
Kubel, 30, is hitting .333 (10-for-30) with 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 8 games with Arizona this season. He originally suffered the quad injury on April 5 @ Brewers.
