Snyder scratched from Thursday lineup

KANSAS CITY -- D-backs catcher Chris Snyder was scratched from the starting lineup Thursday with tightness in his lower back.

Snyder felt his back stiffen up after fielding the final strikeout in Wednesday night's win over the Royals, 12-5. The ball was in the dirt and he had to grab it and throw to first.

D-backs manager A.J. Hinch said he made up the lineup before Snyder arrived at the ballpark and once the two spoke he decided to scratch him. Miguel Montero, who was in the original lineup as the designated hitter, was moved behind the plate with Eric Byrnes getting the nod at DH.

Hinch did not seem overly concerned that the injury was anything serious.

"He doesn't feel 100 percent so I'm going to err on the side of caution," he said. "I would like to see him catch [Friday] if he feels better."

Hinch also said that infielder Mark Reynolds is experiencing some tightness in his right forearm. Reynolds started at first rather than third base Thursday in order to limit his throwing a bit.
