|

PHOENIX – The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) was named the winner of the “Best Promotional Video” at the 2013 IDEA Golden Matrix Awards Gala held at the Rialto Theatre in Montreal, Quebec on July 17. The D-backs represented two of the four finalists in the category that honors the best promotional spots or commercials with the winning video selected as the GEICO and State Farm commercial spoof.

The GEICO commercial spoof featured D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall, Executive Vice President Cullen Maxey and D-backs Legend Matt Williams while the State Farm commercial spoof featured Hall, D-backs closer J.J. Putz and D-backs Legend Luis Gonzalez. The videos were played at select games earlier this season and were featured as part of the D-backs’ annual Most Valuable Partner Awards held in January. The other finalist video was the D-backs’ Dynasty promotional video that played in advance of Outdoor Recreation Night to promote the Wade Miley Gnome giveaway.

The award is the second IDEA Golden Matrix Award for the D-backs with their first win in 2008 for “Best Show Open.”

Information Display and Entertainment Association (IDEA) annually recognizes superior achievement throughout the large screen video and matrix display industry by awarding its Golden Matrix Awards (GMAs) at the annual IDEA conference. The purpose of the GMAs is to recognize artistic and technical excellence in the programming of large screen video and matrix displays located at stadiums, arenas, racetracks, convention centers and other public assembly facilities. The GMAs are also intended to provide an opportunity for the large screen video and matrix display industries to share ideas and to view the wide variety of productions that have been created over the past year.
