D-backs avoid arbitration with Matt Reynolds

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year contract with a club option for 2015 with left-handed pitcher Matt Reynolds, according to D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Reynolds, who turned 29 on Oct. 2, went 0-2 with 2 saves and a 1.98 ERA (6 ER in 27.1 IP) in 30 relief appearances in 2013. He posted a career-high 22-game scoreless streak from Sept. 19, 2012-May 11, 2013 (19.0 IP), including a club-record-tying 19 scoreless outings to start the season.

Reynolds was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 10 with a strained left elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery on Sept. 24 in Pensacola, Fla. (performed by Dr. James Andrews).

In 195 Major League appearances with Colorado (2010-12) and Arizona (2013), Reynolds has gone 5-5 with 2 saves and a 3.58 ERA (61 ER in 153.1 IP) and 141 strikeouts. He was acquired from the Rockies on Nov. 20, 2012 for infielder Ryan Wheeler.
