Third baseman Jake Lamb hit a solo home run with two outs in the 10th inning to give Double-A Mobile a 1-0 walk-off win against Birmingham on Wednesday. The D-backs' No. 7 prospect finished the game 2-for-5.
After a slow start to the season, Lamb may be breaking out of his slump. His home run Wednesday was his first since the first inning of Opening Day, a drought of 36 at-bats, and, for the first time this season, he has had back-to-back multihit games.
Though Lamb's home run came too late for him to factor in the decision, left-hander Andrew Chafin continued his strong start to the season. In seven shutout innings, the D-backs' No. 13 prospect struck out six batters and allowed five hits. He extended his scoreless-innings streak to 12 1/3 innings.
Right-hander Jake Barrett, the D-backs' No. 10 prospect, threw a scoreless inning of relief and struck out one batter.
