D-backs place Putz on 15-day disabled list & corresponding moves

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) placed right-handed pitcher J.J. Putz on the 15-day disabled list with right forearm tightness (retro to May 4), selected right-handed pitcher Evan Marshall (@EMarsh31) from Triple-A Reno, recalled right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson (@Chaser34) from Double-A Mobile and optioned right-handed pitcher Mike Bolsinger to Reno, according to D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Putz, 37, is 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA (6 ER in 10.0 IP) in 13 relief outings this season.

Marshall, who turned 24 on April 18, will wear No. 50 in his first Major League stint. In 14 relief appearances for the Aces, he went 0-1 with 2 saves, a 0.54 ERA (1 ER in 16.2 IP) and held opponents to a .175 average (10-for-57) with 5 walks and 19 strikeouts. He opened the season with 13 straight scoreless outings (15.2 IP) before allowing a run in his most recent outing on Saturday @ Salt Lake.

Marshall, who had a save and 4 scoreless outings (4.0 IP) for the D-backs in Spring Training, was the D-backs fourth-round selection in the 2011 draft out of Kansas State University and was signed by Joe Robinson. Over parts of 4 seasons in the Minors, he went 9-11 with a 3.03 ERA (52 ER in 154.1 IP) in 137 relief outings.

Anderson, 26, will wear No. 57 in his first stint in the Majors. He was recently named the organization's Pitcher-of-the-Month for April and at the time of his promotion, he had a 20.0 scoreless innings streak for the BayBears spanning parts of his last 3 starts. In 6 starts for the BayBears, he was 4-2 with a 0.69 ERA (3 ER in 39.0 IP) and .159 opponents average with 6 walks and 38 strikeouts. He also opened the season 2-0 with 12.2 shutout frames over his first 2 starts to earn Southern League Player of the Week (April 3-13).

Anderson was the D-backs ninth-round selection in the 2009 draft out of the University of Oklahoma and was signed by Jason Karegeannes. Over parts of 6 Minor League seasons, he went 24-22 with a 3.44 ERA (152 ER in 398.0 IP) in 100 games (58 starts).

Bolsinger, 26, went 1-2 with a 6.08 ERA (16 ER in 23.2 IP) in 5 games (4 starts) for the D-backs.
