Typically, when a guy hits for the cycle, he's the headline-maker. But as exciting as Dodgers prospect Scott Schebler's performance was, Jake Lamb came close to stealing the scene.

Ranked No. 6 on the D-backs' Top 20 Prospects list, Lamb went 5-for-6 with three RBIs, leading Mobile to a 16-9 victory over Schebler and the Chattanooga Lookouts in the Double-A Southern League.

The five-hit day brought Lamb's average up to .305, good for eighth in the circuit. His three doubles and a triple upped his slugging percentage to .533, second in the Southern League.

Lamb, Arizona's sixth-round pick in 2012, kicked things off with a leadoff double in the second inning. He came around to score the first of many for the BayBears. A two-out single in the third drove in a run.

Double No. 2 came with two outs in the fourth and plated two more runs, finishing off a four-run inning. Lamb's triple came in the fifth, with one out, and he came around to score, one of seven runs Mobile tallied that frame. His third and final double came in the seventh, giving him 20 for the year. Lamb finally made an out when he grounded to first to lead off the ninth.

Lamb, a product of the University of Washington, has done nothing but hit thus far in his pro career, batting .329/.390/.539 in his summer debut in the Pioneer League, then .303/.424/.558 in the California League in 2013, a season cut short by a broken hamate bone.
