A day after he was placed on the 15-day disabled list, D-backs center fielder A.J. Pollock was named the National League's Player of the Week for the final week of game action he'll see for a while.

Pollock, who needs surgery on his right hand after sustaining a fractured fourth metacarpal bone when he was hit by a pitch against the Reds on Saturday, led the Majors in hitting over the past week with a .522 (12-for-23) average.

Pollock also led the NL with a .593 on-base percentage, 23 total bases, nine runs and six doubles, and was tied for the league lead in hits and slugging percentage (1.000).

The D-backs expect to be without Pollock for anywhere from five weeks to two months.

Pollock recorded his third three-hit game of the week (and team-leading seventh of the season) on Friday when he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. He also had three hits last Monday, including two doubles and his first career walk-off homer.

It's Pollock's second career weekly award, with both coming in the last three weeks.
