Gibson gives Parra breather, starts Ross

HOUSTON -- Gerardo Parra was out of the lineup to rest in the D-backs' game against the Astros on Wednesday evening.

Parra is hitting .270 this season with 24 RBIs and five home runs. Before Wednesday, he had been in the starting lineup for every game since May 17 against the Dodgers.

"He's been going hard," manager Kirk Gibson said. "He needs it."

In Parra's place in right field was Cody Ross, who entered the game batting .198 on the year.
