Toussaint, who was ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect before the Draft by MLB.com, had committed to play at Vanderbilt University, and the D-backs expected him to be selected prior to their pick at No. 16.
When Toussaint fell to them, they were thrilled.
Toussaint's fastball sits at 91-93 mph, and he has shown the ability to touch 97. His curveball also has the potential to be a plus pitch, with a changeup being his third-best pitch.
Toussaint was born in the United States, but moved to Haiti when he was a few months old and spent the first six years of his life there before moving to Florida. His father was a candidate for president in Haiti.
