Shipley to play for U.S. in Futures Game

PHOENIX -- The D-backs had one player selected to participate in the 2014 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

Class A Visalia right-hander Braden Shipley was named Tuesday to the U.S. Team for the game, which will take place on July 13 at Minnesota's Target Field.

Shipley, 22, was the D-backs first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Nevada.

Shipley began the year at Class A South Bend where he went 4-2 with a 3.74 ERA in eight starts before being promoted to Advanced-A Visalia.

In four starts for Visalia, Shipley has compiled a 2.81 ERA.
