Nuno excited meeting new teammates in Arizona

PHOENIX -- Left-hander Vidal Nuno reported to the D-backs on Monday, one day after the team acquired him from the Yankees in exchange for Brandon McCarthy and cash.

"It's a thrill," Nuno said. "Just trying to introduce myself to everybody."

D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said that Nuno was at the ballpark at 11:30 a.m. MT when the skipper arrived. Nuno will start Tuesday night against the Marlins.

"It's part of the business," Nuno said of being traded. "And it was thrilling that another team wants me to pitch for them. Every day is an opportunity, every start, every game, so I'm not going to do too much, not going to think too much, just try and go out there and have fun."

In 17 games (14 starts) with the Yankees this year, Nuno was 2-5 with a 5.42 ERA, and he said he struggled to find his release point.

In his last two starts, though, he compiled a 2.53 ERA.

"The last two starts I found it and I proceeded on," Nuno said of his release point. "Now I have another opportunity, and what I want to do is just work hard and just try and do what I have to do to keep on grinding and finish the season strong."
