Webb continues on long recovery road

|
PHOENIX -- Brandon Webb was expecting to throw long toss again on Monday before his D-backs played the Cardinals at Chase Field. The injured right-hander was placed on the 60-day disabled list on Sunday, meaning that he's not available to be activated until May 25 at the earliest.

"I'm just trying to get through it," said Webb, who hasn't thrown in a game in more than a year and is still recovering from surgery last August to clean out his right shoulder.

"I'm up to about 110 feet again and maybe in about five days I'll try pitching on flat ground. So far, I'm feeling good. Just a few steps forward, a few back. There's nothing you can do about it."

Webb had thrown a number of bullpens early in Spring Training, but hasn't worked off a mound since his arm felt lifeless during a session in Tucson on March 4. There's no timetable for his return.
